Growth & opportunities
We see potential in people, not just what’s written on a CV. Here, you’ll grow through new roles, internal mobility, training, and trust. You’ll have the space to try, to fail, and to succeed. Because we’re always learning.
Leadership & trust
Our leaders createconfidence through clarity, presence, and engagement. t’s about seeing every individual, appreciating their contribution, and helping them understand how they make a difference in the bigger picture. We believe that true leadership is about people, not hierarchies.
Balance & wellbeing
We believe in balance, between performance and recovery, work and life. Wellness and care are just as important to us as energy and pace. When we feel good, we create experiences that make others feel good too.
Our departments
Every path leads to new experiences. Which one will be yours?
The journey of ESS Group began in 2007, when the potential of Ystad Saltsjöbad was recognized. Three guys bought "Saltan," and the name was created: Emilsson, Stenberg, Strömberg - ESS. Today, the hotel features a classic Newport style. While we cherish our fantastic facilities, it is also about embracing the local charm and proximity to the sea. The entire environment has been refreshed and modernized with a Pool Club and conference hall.
2011
Falkenberg Strandbad
Destination number two is located on Skrea Strand - Falkenberg Strandbad. In 2011, the transformation began, turning the hotel from a traditional conference hotel, into a beach resort with gastronomic visions by the sea. Featuring both a Pool Club and several conference venues.
2014
Hotel Pigalle
Hotel number three is located in the heart of Gothenburg. This was ESS Group's first boutique hotel, inspired by 1920s Art Deco – then and now, a reaction against the ordinary and cookie-cutter. The hotel features French mystique and a cozy wine bar. Not like home – at all!
2015
Villa Strandvägen
In 2015, ESS Group took over the beautiful Villa next to Ystad Saltsjöbad. In our turn-of-the-century Villa, with an inn-like atmosphere, we want guests to feel at home. The Villa describes itself as a restaurant with rooms – a warm and genuine place where it's easy to feel comfortable. The house offers a complete experience with a strong focus on locally grown, seasonal ingredients.
2016
Hotel & Ristorante Bellora
The next addition to the ESS Family was our Italian gem, Hotel & Ristorante Bellora, located right on Avenyn in Gothenburg. A central meeting spot, with a boxing ring, rooftop bar, and wood-fired pizza. In 2024, Bellora also opened its new, beautiful conference rooms in the old bank next to the hotel. The rooms are intimate – some small, some large – but this is not a place where you stay in your room.
2017
The Steam Hotel
The journey continued north to our largest project to date - The Steam Hotel. Västerås' Most Exciting Hotel! 18 floors, 263 rooms, and a 1000 sqm Voltage Lounge Spa Club. The sky is not the limit! The old steam power plant by Lake Mälaren was once one of the country's largest energy producers, but times changed and left behind a beautiful old brick building, machines, boilers, and pipes. ESS Group transformed the 1917 steam power plant into a spectacular world-class destination.
2017
MJ´s
However, we weren't done in the south, and in 2017, the Mäster Johan hotel was acquired to become ESS Group's number one Flamingo hotel – MJ's in Malmö! Once you step through the revolving doors, you’ll find a magical and vibrant atmosphere where cocktail glasses are filled with sweet and tangy flavors, hotel beds are fluffy, and the sofas are oh-so-comfortable.
2019
Marienlyst Strandhotell
In 2019, we crossed the strait for the first time to Denmark and Helsingør's pride – Marienlyst Strandhotel. Named after Frederick V's queen, Juliane Marie, the hotel boasts a rich history. The hotel has been "ESSified" into a truly fantastic destination and is one of our largest workplaces.
2019
Fyri Resort
The same year, FYRI Resort was built in Hemsedal, Norway, and we opened the doors just before Christmas. The hotel is located in the beautiful Totteskogen valley and is surrounded by stunning mountains. It is a year-round destination, just like our other destinations, it's a perfect both in summer and winter. The hotel and its surroundings have much to offer, and ESS Group also has a Workrotation project for ESS employees in Sweden who want to work a season in the mountains at FYRI.
2020
Ellery Beach House
In the midst of the pandemic, Ellery Beach House opened on Elfviks Udde on Lidingö outside Stockholm. This destination is Stockholm's only beach resort. It’s a cozy beach house with its own pier, where liveliness and tranquility contrast. A place where nature, sea, and beach meet padel, outdoor gyms, pools, cabanas, people, music, design, and art.
2021
Home Of ESS
ESS Group began with a vision to create warm and welcoming hotel destinations, places where guests would want to return again and again. The idea was to "Bring that feeling home." Hence, we launched our brand new "Online Destination," where you can buy all the delightful things we offer at our destinations.
2022
ESSoESS
We all enjoy being a little crazy, so it was time to venture abroad once again. This time to Spain and Mallorca. ESSoESS is a floating experience that sometimes sails the seas but mostly stays docked. The boat is located right below the beautiful cathedral in the heart of Palma. You won't find a better berth in the vibrant city of Palma.
2022
Jacy´z Hotel & Resort
It was time once again for ESS Group to conquer Gothenburg, and what a building it is! Jacy'z Hotel & Resort in Gårda. With its beautiful facade, inspired by Gothenburg's fishing heritage in the form of a fishing net, Jacy'z made a grand entrance into Gothenburg's entertainment scene. Featuring 27 floors of pure magic, it offers everything from dining experiences and fun activities to world-class live entertainment, a sky bar, and a pool club 100 meters above the ground. Here, guests can enjoy breathtaking views, warm pools, fire relaxation areas, a panoramic sauna, and refreshing drinks.
2024
Maryhill Estate
During economic downturns in Sweden, we accelerate our efforts and will be opening the doors to Maryhill Estate in October 2024. For years, we have passed by Örenäs Castle, dreaming of one day having the opportunity to create a place that even more people would want to visit. The area where Örenäs Castle is located was once called Maryhill, named after District Judge August Anderberg's wife, Mariehild. The next owner, Countess Constance Wachtmeister, of French origin, expanded the park at the end of the 19th century and changed the name to Maryhill. We think it's beautiful. The Baroque castle was built in the 1910s by the "Sugar King" Carl Tranchell, and his legacy will be remembered in the pool club we are building. Now, it's finally time for this beautiful place to let us take the next step.
2025
Hjortviken Country Club
In the scenic outskirts of Hindås, overlooking Västra Nedsjön and only 25 minutes from Gothenburg, Hjortviken Country Club will soon open. Starting January 2025, you can leave the bustle of the city behind and arrive at a place that lives and breathes nature, adventure, good food, and heartfelt, genuine interactions. Our ambition here is to redefine the meaning of relaxation and disconnection, allowing the experience to feel truly authentic. This is evident in the hotel rooms, where the large black square that usually hangs on the wall... is missing! And that's how we want it. Socializing, interacting with each other, and engaging with the surrounding environment make the stay more of an adventure than any TV ever could.
2025
Rox Resort
Rox Resort will be a beach resort of international class, a perfect step for us to further approach Europe. We draw inspiration from Marienlyst as well as from what we have created over the years in Sweden, such as Ystad Saltsjöbad, Hotel Pigalle in Gothenburg, and Ellery Beach House in Stockholm. We aim to create a welcoming, elegant resort with a sense of coming home. You will find details from Hong Kong and England in the choice of materials and the overall experience. The rooftop pool and garden with a sea view are truly something special.
